Dear Sir/Madam, while trying to find out information re.my Grandfather who was killed in 1914, I came across your site about Colchester. I know there is some sort of family connection to Colchester but do not know exactly what. Anyway, my Grand father's name was John Christopher George Barratt and his name is listed on your Mile End memorial. Your site asks for any information re. people listed on memorials so perhaps I could do this. Maybe you can help me as I cannot understand why he is on a memorial in Colchester. After my grandfather was killed my mother and her brother were sent from their home in Devon to live with people in Bergholt. Hoping to hear from you, C. Green (Mrs.)
